The Career Consultant is responsible for providing counseling services on an individual and group basis to students and alumni, and coordinating and supervising career planning programs and resources to assist them with all stages of the career development process. The Career Consultant will utilize interest, values, and personality inventories to assist students with major and career decisions. This consultant also will assist students in their engagement with internships and other applied learning opportunities, as well as their job search and graduate school application processes. In addition, this position will develop and present outreach programming to students in a variety of settings that may include: classroom, student organizations, residence halls and other innovative means to connect with students. The Consultant will serve as the departments’ primary liaison between the Career Center and specific academic areas and career sectors. All efforts are to support the career readiness of our students and alumni.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Marketing, or related field.
  • One to three years of directly related post-graduate work experience includes positions in a collegiate career center, or a closely related function.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative efforts with faculty members, other academic and student affairs departments, employers, and other external groups to inform, support and promote relevant career services and programs.
  • Extensive presentation experience with small and large groups of students, parents, faculty, staff, employers, and the general public.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in University Career Center, Talent Acquisition, or other college-student career and job recruitment.
  • Completion of NACE Career Coaching Intensive, designation as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors, or similar equivalency.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively develop programs, solve problems, resolve differences, and contribute effectively to the Career Center team.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize program assessment instruments and electronic career and employment systems.
